此曲為美國鄉村歌手Hank Locklin自寫自唱，首於1949以78轉唱片發行。1957再以單曲重新發行，在告示牌「Most Played C&W by Jockeys」榜獲得第5名，同時也跨越至「流行榜」( # 77 )。此曲的歌名有些含混不清，1949的原始版本和其後的版本偶爾將歌名寫為《Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On》，因此句始終都出現在歌詞中，但大多數版本都使用「短」歌名。

翻唱此曲的知名歌手眾多，有Connie Francis、Loretta Lynn、Dolly Parton、Skeeter Davis等等，但在台長的記憶中，當年聽的似乎是Johnny Tillotson 的版本(1962)，此版本在鄉村及流行榜分別獲得第11及第17名。以下另貼Heather Myles的現場演唱版 ( 歌詞有些簡化 )，一直覺得Heather的歌喉過於陽剛，該影音的錄製時間為2022年，Heather已經60歲了，中氣顯然有些衰退，但聲音反而更柔和好聽。

寫歌的Hank Locklin對愛情的憧憬的確很會發想，不要說是喜歡女生做過夢的香枕，就算只是對方送的一條手帕或是一個布絨小玩偶，都足以睡覺時放在枕邊做個香甜的美夢了。可惜的是歌曲的男主角雖有如此的想法要求，而看來對方是沒有想要理會他。
