Simon & Garfunkel是60年代知名的民謠搖滾二重唱團體，著名的歌曲有《The Sound of Silence》、《Bridge Over Troubled Water》、《Mrs. Robinson》等等。1970，倆人散夥各奔前程，但在之後的歲月裡，倆人仍曾多次合體出現在演唱會的場合。

此首《Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard》為Paul Simon單飛後所寫，收錄在他個人第2張與自己同名的專輯《Paul Simon》/( 1972) 中，專輯成績亮眼，獲得告示牌流行專輯榜第4名，單曲成績也不差，在熱門100排行榜位居第22。

歌曲中最讓人感興趣的是：mama pajama到底看到了兩位年輕人什麼犯罪的事，使得她要到警察局去報案？當Simon被滾石雜誌的記者問到時，回說：他所想到的是關於「性」方面的事，但從未困擾說要弄清楚到底是什麼？因這對他來說是沒差。所以，有人認為這是關於兩個男生的「性實驗」( 註：當時美國除了伊利諾州外的各州，都規定同性戀行為違法 )。歌詞中的radical priest ( 激進的牧師 )，一般咸信靈感是來自於當時正被登在Time雜誌封面的反戰牧師Daniel Berrigan。另，Simon在紐約的皇后區長大，Corona是其中的一個社區，兩者也都被編進了歌詞「Goodbye to Rosie, the queen of Corona」。

歌名Me and Julio語法不正確，應該是Julio and I Down……才對，但此可能無法補獲年輕的純真，而使得這首歌如此地受歡迎。
