英國歌手Peter Frampton從12歲就開始參加樂團The Little Ravens。之後：14歲→The Turbeats，16歲→The Herd。身為The Herd的主唱及主奏吉他手，樂團有好幾首歌曲進入英國排行榜前20名，而成為了當時的熱門曲。此時，Peter Frampton已算是一個成功的少年歌手，甚至登上青少年雜誌，成為「The Face of 1968」。

1969，Peter Frampton加入由Steve Marriott ( 知名樂團The Small Faces的原成員之一 ) 所組的Humble Pie樂團。在此期間，他也參與了一些知名藝人，像是原披頭團員的George Harrison等的錄音工作。在樂團出了4張錄音室及一張現場專輯之後，Peter Frampton於1971離開了Humble Pie，開始打拼他個人的獨唱事業。

雖然前景看似一片大好，而在Peter Frampton出了幾張專輯後，也只能算是小成功，直到1976的專輯《Feampton Comes Alive》才終於大賣。其中的這首《Show Me The Way》，Peter Frampton使用了「Talk Box」效果器，將人聲和吉他聲合在一起，「效果」還真的很不錯。自此之後，這種聲音似就成了他的註冊商標，Talk Box也一直跟隨著他演唱至今。



歌詞看來像是男子一廂情願愛上對方，還要對方指示一條明路→看如何才能愛上她？若是碰到狠一點的女生，不知會不會叫男子去……「洗一洗」？呵呵！
