但是不想拖拖拉拉所以我還是開始寫了新的遊記
這星期還是繼續帶大家遊South Dakota
this article is STILL about South Dakota
已經寫了兩篇南達柯塔州的文章還不夠
it's definitely a fun state if I can't finish everything in 2 articles
大家就知道那絕對是值得走訪的州
先複習一下前兩篇遊記吧

上集含: 總統山(拉什摩爾山)，風洞國家公園，卡士達州立公園
First one with Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, and Custer State Park
下集則有: 惡地國家公園，山丘挪威教堂，熊的國度
the second one has Badlands National Park, Chapel in the Hills, and Bear Country USA
這回首先登場的是風洞國家公園的"姊妹"景點---寶石洞穴
the first site in this article is the sister park of Wind Cave--- Jewel Cave National Monument
寶石洞穴和風洞國家公園之間只有35哩的距離
the distance between Wind Cave and Jewel Cave is only 35 miles
但是兩個洞穴的結構相差可大了
but the structure and interior between these 2 caves are wayyy different
現在我可以非常肯定的告訴大家
so now I can tell you for sure
完全不用擔心如果你去了其中一個洞穴
there is no need to worry about u will spend money twice on the cave with same view
再去另一個是浪費錢
因為你體驗的景觀完全不同
because that would be totally different experience
寶石洞穴是由一對年輕兄弟發現的
Jewel was found by 2 young brothers
是當今世上長度第三的地底洞穴(目前為止已發現270.5公里)
it is the thrid longest underground cave in the world for now !
我參加的導覽行程起始點是在約地下24層
the tour I took started at 240 feet underground
最深點大概有地下38層這麼深!!!!
and the deepest spot is 379 feet underground !!!! that's amazing
當時這對兄弟在洞穴中發現礦物，本以為因此要發大財
the young brothers found mineral in the cave, they thought they can make big fortune
沒想到洞穴裡的礦物不是什麼值錢的寶石(只是方解石不是水晶)
but those minerals are not as valuable as they thought
但兩兄弟很聰明，想到可以當導覽來賺錢
but they were smart, they started to make tour for people to make money
一直到1908年，時任總統羅斯福定此地為國家紀念碑
and till 1908, President Roosevelt made this place a national monument
美國國家公園處便在1933年接手管理；1939年開始有導覽行程供遊客選擇
Park Service started to manage it and giving tour for people since 1939.
在此不多贅述寶石洞穴的詳細故事
I am not going to go any deeper about the story of the cave
留給想去參觀的各位自行聽導覽員講解或向他們提問
you can ask the park ranger or they would give u detail during the tour
但是可以和大家說一下兩個洞穴導覽的不同
but I can tell you the differences between 2 caves
風洞的行程場次比較多一些，洞穴底相較之下比較不潮濕
Wind cave is not as humid as Jewel cave, and a little warmer, too.
另外，寶石洞穴的規定比較嚴格
Jewel Cave tour is very strict on rules,
超過規定大小的包包不能帶入洞穴
no oversize bag (the size they allow is very small)
而且寶石洞穴的票很快就賣完了
and, the ticket of Jewel cave sold out really quick
所以想去的人請起個大早去排隊買票喔
make sure u get up early enough to go there and wait in line
We got there at 8:50 am, the first tour is 9:20, then 10:00, and 10:40 etc...
the earliest we can get was the 10:40 one = =

其實我不懂為什麼寶石洞穴有規定包包大小
I am not quite sure why we can't have our personal bag
(可能是怕觀光客攜帶洞裡的石頭??)
prob because they are worry about people taking things away from the cave ?!
因為寶石洞穴的空間相對風洞大了許多
Jewel cave has big room in it....so I am not sure the rule of the bag is for what
裡面非常寬敞(當然也有窄的步道啦)
洞穴裡的結構跟我在風洞參加的導覽行程相比
寶石洞穴好像稍為豐富了一點
to me, what I saw in Jewel Cave seems to be a little more various than Wind cave
由於要讓大家自行去探索
but I want to leave it to you guys to discover it
以下我就只貼照片不解釋囉~
so, there are pictures without explanation lol
另一個行程是到另一個小鎮搭百年蒸汽火車
another spot is to take an old steam train tour
Hill City離寶石洞穴不到一小時車程
it is in Hill City, within an hour drive from Jewel Cave
中途會經過我這次下榻的地方
and the hotel I stayed is in the middle of these 2 spots
一個叫做卡士達的小鎮
a town called Custer
夏季很多城鎮每週都有不同的活動
there are different events on every weekends in towns in summer
這次我去的時候剛好碰到斯圖貝克(Studebaker)老車的小比賽
last weekend, there is the event for old cars Studebaker
四年前在俄亥俄州時有一個星期路上也都是老爺車
每台都超可愛的!!
each one of those old cars are sooooo cute
百年蒸汽火車的票價不便宜
anyway, the ticket for the train tour is kinda expensive
一個人要28美元(大概要出發前一兩天要預約)
it's 28 USD for adult (make sure u make reservation)
車程約莫是兩小時(來回)
for round trip, it takes about 2 hours
所有車廂都是木製的
all the carts are wooden
每節車廂以不同的歷史人物命名
and named after different person from old time
所以每個車廂都有不同的故事喔
沿途車上有解說員會向你介紹左右兩側的重要景點
there is one guy will tell you where to look and what to see during the tour
有時候他們也會安排行程中的"驚喜" (既然是驚喜我就不透露了)
sometimes, there will b surprise (and since it's surprise, I am not going to say anything)
途中也可見野生的鹿悠閒的吃草發懶
also, there are lots of deer around and that's one of the surprise :)
沿途景致是不錯
it's pretty along the way
可是每每一個轉角又看到幾戶豪宅
but all those houses in the hills make the scene not so scenic
難免覺得景觀被破壞
中途也很多平交道
感覺有點可惜
難得搭乘的是百年火車
it's a shame that you are on an old train
但景色卻大不如前
but what u see along the way is much worse (I guess) than hundred year ago
這次火車行程結束後還早
就到對街的黑丘博物館參觀
it was still early after the train tour
so we went to Black Hills Institute Museum
門口有很多這個區域的景點介紹手冊
don't forget to check the coupon book at the entrance
記得要翻翻看
因為裡面有折價券
我們的票價就打九折
we got 10% off for the admission
(嚴格來說我覺得這個小博物館票價不便宜，一個人好像要7塊美金。
雖然是"年票"，可是我們都是觀光課並不會在這城久留，所以我覺得太貴了)
to me, this museum ask quite a lot for admission, it's like 7 USD per person.
Though it's an annual pass...it doesn't help if we won't stay in this town for long
Giant Sea Turtle !!
這隻不是恐龍是鱷魚!!!! 超大!!!!!!
裡面有暴龍化石!!門口售票處的人會告訴你主要兩隻暴龍化石是在美國哪裡被發現
there are fossils of T-rex, and they were found in USA
還有哪幾座化石一定要詳細觀察XD
除此之外，每個展覽品前面都有解說牌
pretty much everything has a board that tells you what it is and where it was found.
第三個景點也是個要價不斐的點
then, there is next site
但是此私人企業景點位於總統山附近的城市
this business is in Keystone, a town that is cloest to Mt. Rushmore
所以即使票價昂貴
so... you would know the price of this site won't be cheap
還是吸引非常多觀光客
yet still attracts lots of tourists

是距離總統山最近的(稍微)大城
由於考量預算
所以我們只玩了一趟 (一趟一人10美元)
we only had one ride (10 dollar a piece)
上去頂點時是坐要去滑雪場的這種纜車椅
we took the chairlift to the top
其實蠻恐怖的因為感覺好老舊
it was kinda scary cuz the chair seems old
到了頂端有個小花園，也有簡易餐點可以讓你在山上享受野餐
there is a cute garden on the top, and they serve food as well, so u can have
a picnic on the top
可以看到遠方的總統山雕像
with the view of Mt. Rusumore
還有飛來飛去的直升機
and many helicopters.....
(看廣告簡介直升機的價格是每人49美金起跳，窮學生玩不起)
(helicopter tour starts from 49/person...we didn't do that)
旁邊就是滑道喔~~
要下來的時後當然要用滑的下來
then of course, you slide down !!
簡單說就是乾的滑水道啦
可以自己控制速度
you can decide how fast (or slow) you want
也有快速道與慢速道可供選擇
and there are fast lane and slow lane for u to choose, too.
工作人員說: 選快速道的遊客請確保你夠快 XD
the girl who works there said "please be FAST if u are in fast lane'
是很好玩啦可是10美金.....台幣要三百塊耶
it's quite fun but.....10 dollars...
搭貓纜來回都比這便宜划算
it's cheaper and much worth it in Taipei to do gondola
將近黃昏時刻我們開到了Deadwood
after that, we drove to Deadwood
是著名的歷史城鎮
a famous historical town
因為有位美國歷史名人在此被槍殺
because someone famous (Wild Bill Hickok) was killed here
這個鎮在19世紀時就以賭博聞名
this town was famous for gambling since 19th century
即使到現在
even now,
大街上也都是賭場
there are pretty much only gambling on main street
與拉斯維加斯的金碧輝煌不同的是
different from Las Vegas
這裡的每間賭場都是百年建築喔
is that every casino here is more than a hundred year old building
因為被訂為國家古蹟
since it's national historical town
所以買下建築的人(無論是商業建築還是住宅)
whoever buy the building here could only make replica of the original one
如果要翻新
都只能依原始外觀重建
也讓這個城鎮多了不同的風情
so that this town could preserve the old nostalgic view
我們當然沒賭博
we didn't gamble there
但是有看到兩間賭場的最大獎是camaro跑車!!!(有點心動)
but we saw there are 2 camaro super sport as grand prize!!!!!!
(maybe we should gamble lol)
雖然不賭
but we had dinner at the most famous restaurtant
但我們選了最有名的餐廳用餐
(已經不是原始地址了，但這間餐廳就是名人Wild Bill Hickok被槍殺的餐廳)
it was where Hickok got killed, even though it's not at the origianl address
因為抵達時間算早
我們可以坐在2樓露臺享受涼風與古老的城鎮景致
we were at the balcony of 2nd floor, cool breeze, great food, and old town
加上餐點美味
完全是一種享受!!!!

最後，是第一篇南達柯塔遊記已經介紹過的Sylvan Lake
then again, Sylvan Lake
因為實在太美了所以今年又去一次
但今年選擇在那野餐
我們到的時候才早上九點多
人群還沒湧入的時刻
好寧靜 !!
Make sure u get there in earlier morning (around 9 or so ),
it's very quite with less people
後來還爬上大石享受早晨的湖景
(又想到國家寶藏在這取景)
having picnic on the rock with lake view will make your day
馬上發現有人在划獨木舟
there are some people play with canoe
立刻決定我們也要去租踏板船遊湖!!
we made up our mind that we are getting a paddle boat like immediately
(可惜這裡的踏板船沒有屋頂遮陽)
租金每人半小時10美金，一小時每人15塊
it's 10 a person for half hour, 25 for an hour
當天因為還早又剛好是美國的勞工(勞動)節
but it was early in the morning, and was also Labor Day
所以我們租一小時，攤主算我們半小時的錢~~ 就甘心~
so the guy over there only charge us 10 per person for an hour! so nice!
踏板船其實沒有看起來那麼累
one hour is perfect for the size of the lake, it definitely worth it!
一小時遊湖拍照也剛剛好
但要提醒大家
Sylvan Lake隸屬於卡士達州立公園
所以一車要先付15美金的門票(效期七天)喔
don't forget that the lake is in Custer State Park,
pay the entrance fee (15/ per vehicle, valid 7 days) first~
如果你已經在公園內了，別忘了開到Needles Highway
頂端有奇石美景以及單行的隧道
還有整片松樹景觀(和非常精力旺盛的小小花栗鼠)
Also, don't forget to drive to the top of Needles Highway
the view over there is super !!
and u will see energetic chipmunks want to jump on you :D
牠要跳到我身上了我要逃跑
Sylvan Lake旁邊還有攀岩教學可以參加
there is rock climbing school next to Sylvan Lake
不論是大人小孩都有適合的活動
是不是超值得去~~~~
the park is good for both adult and children
總之，南達科塔州是個好玩的地方(至少西南部很吸引人)
anyway, South Dakota is awesome (at least the Black Hill area)
喜愛大自然但又不是愛好極端戶外活動的人(就是我)絕對可以被滿足
if you like nature scene but not really like outdoor activity (like hiking for hours),
you will like this place
加上景色宜人
and it's pretty over there
