One-eyed Sir Stuffington becomes new Internet cat star

Meet Sir Stuffington, a tremendously cute rescue kitten with more Facebook "Likes" than the average local business.With more than 28,000 "Likes" and counting, the 6-week-old Sir Stuffington recently went viral due to a cheeky picture of the one-eyed feline wearing pirate garb complete with red bandana, eye patch, and an unforgettable sneer.Aside from lacking an eye, the flea and filth-ridden Sir Stuffington arrived at the Multnomah County Animal Services in Troutdale, Ore., this month with health issues including a disfigured jaw, heart murmur, upper respiratory infection, flea anemia, and the highly contagious calicivirus.After cleaning up Sir Stuffington and treating his respiratory infection, the Troutdale shelter turned over the lucky kitten and its two siblings to 34-year-old foster parent Blazer Scaffer for recuperation. "I want to bring awareness to the world about the importance of your local animal shelter and the lives they save every day," she said on the page. Once his caretakers get the calicivirus under control and stabilize his health, a veterinarian will need to remove several of Stuffington's teeth to avoid future issues with the jaw fracture. Veterinarians successfully treated the heart murmur and flea anemia. In several months, the shelter will put Sir Stuffington and his siblings up for adoption.Those interested in financially contributing to Sir Stuffington's recovery can purchase adorable pirate-themed prints starring the popular kitten.
