英國藍調搖滾樂團Savoy Brown於1965成立迄今，期間除了創始人、吉它手和主要的詞曲作者Kim Simmonds外，成員不斷更迭。1971，包含有吉他手、貝士手和鼓手連袂出走，共組後來更為成功的新樂團Foghat。Kim Simmonds只得另招募新團員 ( 主要也是以另個藍調樂團Chicken Shack為班底 )，雖然歷經了更換團員的動盪波折，卻也為樂團帶來了「新聲音」。此首《Tell Mama》即為Savoy Brown樂團重組後所發行的錄音室專輯《Street Corner Talking》( 1971 ) 中的歌曲， 專輯獲得All Music ( 全美音樂 ) 專業4顆星的評價 ( 最佳為5顆星 )，單曲則是獲得美國排行榜第83名。

歌曲中的男子覺得在家鄉生活鬱悶得快要生病了，而決定獨自出外打拼，並想將這般的心情告知母親。記得在物質生活尚不富裕的60年代，台長也如是想，覺得只要離開家就是一片自由的海闊天空，也終於在15歲時如願，至於結果是好是壞，只能說一切都是命運的安排。

以下另貼在加州聖地牙哥地區活動的樂團Mother Grundy ( 格蘭迪媽媽 )，看來都是些「資深」團員，但翻唱此曲表現得相當不錯。
