1943出生於佛羅里達的Roland Kent LaVoie，18歲時就參加了當地的樂團The Rumours，其後，又換了好幾個團，但都沒什麼起色。1969開始單飛，發行了幾首歌，但仍敲不進排行榜的大門。

1971，LaVoie改名Lobo，歌運也跟著大開，同年發行的《Me and You and Dog Name Boo》分別在美、英排行榜拿下第5和第4名，也獲得銷售百萬張的金唱片。1972，Lobo發行了《Of A Simple Man》專輯，其中的《I'd Love You to Want Me》和《Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend》再度暴紅 ( #2 / #8 )，不僅唱片大賣，也終於奠定了他在歌壇的地位。

此首《There Ain't No Way》亦為收錄在前述的專輯中，雖然沒有排行榜亮麗的成績加持，但仍不失為一首好歌。Lobo的歌曲在流暢的旋律中，往往流露出一股淡淡的對愛情的無奈和哀愁，應該也算是位憂鬱情歌王子吧！
