My Heroes, my inspiration

As much as I feel a part of the main stream society, I cannot deny that I constantly search for role models who resemble me and my experience - chinese, raised/born in an English speaking country. Every time I find one, inevitably I feel closer to them, therefore their stories inspire and influence me more than others. Here’s a list of my heroes, I just want to be reminded of what a wonderful world we live in where everyone have a chance to be outstandingly brilliant.

Vera Wang

Vera Wang (Chinese: 王薇薇; Pinyin: Wáng Wēiwei; born June 27, 1949) is an American fashion designer based in New York, NY, USA. She is known for her wedding gown collection, among other specialties.

Vera Wang was raised in an affluent family and attended The Chapin School as well as the Sorbonne in Paris. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a degree in art history. Her mother often took her to fashion shows in Paris. Her father started and owned a chemical company.

Lisa Ling

Lisa Ling (Chinese: 凌志慧; Pinyin: Líng Zhìhùi) (born August 30, 1973, in Sacramento, California) is an American journalist, best known for her role as a co-host of ABC’s The View (from 1999-2002), host of National Geographic Channel’s Explorer, reporter on Channel One News, and special correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Ok, love love love 洪晃 for her incredibly fast tracked career/life. She’s got an amazing story, her life, is a living miracle. I mean, look at her CV! She became the Managing Director of this company at only 23-24!! Who does that?! How is it possible? Mind boggling. If she can do that, I wonder what I can do with my life...seriously.
