Awareness

In the backyard, I found a dead sparrow with its eyes opened. You could also hear the ‘ji ji’ sound from a bird, which cried at the top of a peach tree. It wouldn’t stop until I picked it up. The little soft body was buried under the tree.

After that day, my mind, trembled, shaking, like a pot of boiling water on the stove. I’m not only feel sorry for the little creature, but also feel sad for another one that lost its accompany. The reason of death is not clear. Either it fell to the ground or was bitten by the wild cat. Hoping to catch the cat，I waited for day and night.

Since my father died, my mom has found herself a new way to release the pain. She attended a group to do exercise every morning. Yesterday she came back so late that Fei worried about it. Usually she walks not too slowly, but after her stroke she walks slowly and takes more time to arrive home. It took about one and a half an hour to get there.

She has been a member of group person to do exercise for twelve years. She was never absent except when it’s hard rainy day. One day I went with her and she told me that many of her friends have already died or are sick and couldn’t come. Because of her age, sometimes she did slight movement, and sometimes she just sat aside and watched it. All of those young volunteers are new faces now.

“The things we worry about are never the things that happen. And the things that happen are the things we never could have dreamed.” The world has changed. It’s a long way to live for a meaningful life. How can you reach the end of the line?
