A puppet troupe from Chiayi has won a special award of distinction in Japan. The Sanmeidi Puppet Troupe was honored for a performance depicting the goddess of the sea, Matsu, at an event in Lida, Japan.

The Troupe was formed by a group of puppet lovers in Chiayi. Not only do they perform Taiwan’s traditional budaixi style of puppetry, they also design and make their own puppets and costumes. The Sanmeidi members’ highly detailed and ornate work received a warm reception from Japanese audiences during the event’s parade.

 台日木偶劇交流 #三昧堂 獲特別獎殊榮

#嘉義 的「#三昧堂創意木偶戲團」，日前應邀到日本參加日台布袋戲交流三十週年紀念活動，三昧堂團員扛著作品「#天照大神」，以媽祖出巡方式遊街，獲得特別獎。

三昧堂是由嘉義一群布袋戲迷組成，他們不只會演，連木偶設計、服裝造形全都一手包辦，作品精美華麗，在人偶劇大遊行中，受到日本觀眾熱烈歡迎。
