Dear Dad,
I started working at China Kitchen the previous Saturday, from 3 o'clock in the evening to roughly 10:30 pm at night. It was my first time working at a restaurant. Despite the disgusting dishes that I have to wash, the minimum wage payment ($240/hr in Taiwan), and Chinese people who speak Cantonese, which I cannot understand, it would still seem bad to my employer if I suddenly had to go on a vacation after my first 3 days at work (I work Saturday nights). He even specifically told me that I "must stay there all the way throughout the day (Saturday), until closing time for the restuarant." The reason why I am reluctant to talk to my employer about a 2 day leave is because I am just starting out at this job, and if I do not attend work, he might think I am lazy, or otherwise not taking my work seriously, and fire/layoff me. This would be OK if it were not for the 40 hours of hands-on-work experience required for my high school graduation. I have only completed 10 and a half hours so far performing clean-up duty around the city, and 29 and a half more hours are still required, which leads to why I would rather go back to Taiwan in May or the summer in July/August rather than February/March.
Surprisingly for such a big piece of land such as Canada , work is still very hard to find for a 16 year old boy with no work experience. I even tried to apply for a job at McDonalds, and they never phoned me back. There may be a chance that I might not complete the required hours for my last year of high school. If I were to take a vacation after at least a month of straight work, the employer won't take it so hard and think badly of me when I do take a break.
On the issue of health, please do take some time to exercise. Walking is good, running I don't know. The bottoms of my feet still get a splitting pain when I run/jog too much (1-3 hours). For the last month, I've been going to the local swimming pool almost every day. It feels good to swim again after such a long time. The last time I swam daily was years ago.
I still play video games and find them fun even though I have grown up some over the last few years. The graphics/video card that I bought back in Taiwan last time broke about 5 months ago due to playing an extremely graphic intensive game. I can't remember the exact time that it broke, but I immediately replaced it with a new card... only to find out it was more expensive and performed like a snail compared my previous gpu component.
Mother only wants you to buy me a camera so that I won't use her's. I really only need it occasionally for school, and don't use it much. It's still convenient to have one though when going out with friends. Thanx.
Add me to MSN.

兒子今年16歲,在異鄉居住讀書已經10年,
今年暑假他回台灣,他說想要找個兼差,教英語會話,發揮他的所長;
我則想要帶他去看看小時候出生成長的地方;
.
從這一封信得知,他擅長游泳,喜歡打電動;
另外,他說就業困難不是只有在台灣,
在國外也是一樣,要得到一個打工的機會也不容易,
何況這個工讀機會一個星期只有做一天而已。
