Oneday, Beethoven traveled to a town near the Rhine River. When he took a walk on aquiet country road at night, He heard amazing music floating through the airfrom a hut. When he walked outside, the music was suddenly stopped. Beethovenheard a young girl exclaim, “I played so bad. How wonderful it would be if I couldhear Mr. Beethoven play this song, so I can learn how to play it.” And then aman said,” It’s too expensive to go to the concert. We can’t afford it.”
Inthe meantime, Beethoven pushed the door and lightly stepped into the house. Ina weak candle light, he saw a man who was fixing a shoe. And a pretty, delicatebut blind girl, sat in front of an old piano. When the shoemaker saw him, astranger coming, he stood up without any hesitation and asked,
“Sir,who are you looking for?”
“No,I just came to play for that girl.” Beethoven said.
Thegirl stood up, surprised, and let Beethoven sit. Beethoven played the song that the girl had just played. Standing still there, she completely immersed in the music until the song was over. She yelled,” It’s you! You must be Mr. Beethoven”
Beethoven kept quiet.
Astrong wind pulled out the candle light; the moonlight sprinkled into the room.Inside the room, everything was bright and looked as though it were covered with the silver silk. It was so quiet and amazing. Gazing at the brother andsister, Beethoven continued playing the song in the moonlight.
Theshoemaker quietly listened to the music. Facing the ocean, he watched themoonlight rising from the faraway skyline, thousands of silver lights spreadingon the surface of ocean. Suddenly, a thunderstorm came, the wind roaring,pushing the waves to the seashore. Opening her eyes widely, the girl seemedalso to see and feel the magnificent world, knocking out from her deep heart.
Whenthey woke up, and returned to the world, Beethoven had already left and run to hishotel. He took a whole night to finish and record the whole song and named it“Moonlight Sonata.”
